Connor is my friend and neighbor and he has autism. For some families getting out of the house for an activity is difficult if not impossible. Problems with routine changes and sensory issues are challenges that are navigated daily.
I loved getting to see Connor in a different environment out on the ice for Special Olympics. This program offers not only speed skating and figure skating, but also competitive aquatics and golf.
This community is so welcoming and warm. I can see why it is worth the major effort for parents and caregivers to get their kids out there and feel part of something much bigger.
